On the apple macs, i was able to access the blogger software, with ease, displaying the program icons at the bottom of the homepage. These software's include power point, work, excel and other applications. To display my coursework blogger was great to do this, online for all to see. I have gathered all parts of my coursework through this program. I was able to apply imagery to support my finding and allow others to understand what i am discussing in each blog post. I used various applications online including Prezi, slide share and Emaze to produce and publish my finding in a stylistic format. The positive attribute of using blogger was it being electrically visible, being fun and media associated, but easy. As i could work from home, accessing my account to add and show my progression of my coursework throughout the whole process. The software was reliable, not falling at any moment in time, keeping all work safe. I also scanned elements into my account, uploading to my blog, a very easy way to show the work that i have done. Like my story board, bring 2-D paper into the digital format of my blog. Contrasting these positive factors, a few flaws I found were the lack of privacy, as they had one log in rather than individual log in, giving access to saved work to anyone who was to use the mac. Therefore, you had to also go back to that exact mac, as the work would be saved to that mac. no other. The software, Imovie is only view-able on the iMac, meaning we were only able to work on our music video inside of school, a disadvantage on time for editing towards the final product. The overall, software however was great producing a professional finish, that made the video seem well produced to a level that a music label would approach in their music artists videos.
Using the throughout the coursework, was very important and another key media technology. it was incorporated through various aspects, including filming, taking photos for the ancillary texts and taking behind the scenes shots. When using the camera, we tried various camera settings, seeing how they would change the quality of the footage but also effect of the story line, trying to determine what would be most effective throughout the music video. we all knew how to work a camera, allowing us all to take responsibility of filming throughout. As we all knew the functions and settings for the camera, we were not wasting time to trying to determine what each setting was. We also relied on good quality footage, therefore a tripod was only right to sit the camera upon creating steady footage. It also allowed our framing of rule of thirds to be used, keeping the correct size, Although, a negative aspect was having to carry the large equipment around with us, from one location to the next. However, due to the equipment being the schools, we had to share the equipment, meaning when we wanted to film we couldn't at times, as others had booked the equipment to film their videos. the quality of pixels were okay, but not as high tech as those of a professional music video. we were also restricted in facilities. Although, the quality of the camera was far better than AS with the flip cameras, uploading footage onto Imovie quickly by placed the SD card into the portable slit, the high storage availability also meant we could keep the footage on the camera, a back up if anything went wrong with the old model macs. however, the nikon was key for taking photographs for our ancillary texts being a magazine advertisement and Digipak, taking multiple shots at different angles, producing good quality images, expressing the effects we desired. The SD card made it easy for us to add easily to the blog software, being a JPEG also allowed easy photo shop editing to be applied.
YouTube was also another form of website used, allowing use to access other music videos, to analyse through our primary research, when we began looking at different music categories. YouTube allowed us to watch other videos. Gaining inspiration of elements we felt could be applied to our music video, like 'Goyte' with his use of shape and colour to the unusual design and format for his music video. Another, key software was Imovie, this obtained the footage and created the whole music video. This software is a little out dated, but was great, as it formed a template that we could apply the footage to, no need to create our own saving lots of time. Imovie also has a range of special effects like slow-motion and speeding the footage up, it also has tools to steady the footage is slightly out, therefore saving time on re-filming and redrafting sequences within the music video. The program allows the song also to be added. It easy to use and great for the music we were creating. We used this program in AS but now we were far more experienced using previous knowledge to create the format of our music video, however in slight different context compared to the Opening to a thriller. Imovie also corresponds with YouTube, making it easy and simplistic for us to release the video to a mass target audience, on an international level.
