Another segment that is involved within the video, used the studio performance technique but with a twist. From the inspiration of the music video, 'Somebody that used to know'. As part the video, paint emerges slowly across the whole composition of the piece, including the naked bodies of the artists within the video. The paint is also re-winded towards to the end of the video, showing the idea of what has been said shall now be silenced, they have said their peace, and what has happened shall now remain within the past, where it belongs. We really liked the fact that the paint symbolises a meaning, but a distraction from the real reason of the situation. The dull colours, represent the emptiness that she has left him with since the breakdown of their relationship. However, as our video is Pop, we used more bright and vibrant colours.
The way we portrayed this idea was by having triangles drawn on the faces of the members who are in the band. We used the same colours as the powder paint to link and relate to each member, keeping continuity and persona to each member present. The triangle interlink to each other like a path flowing around the face of each member. The black backdrop, with the white clothing reflects the classic feel that is also used through the other studio filmed sections. This does support Goodwin's theory, with the relationship between lyrics and the footage at hand. The equipment required mainly consisted of a camera, light, stall and tripod, to capture and solely direct the pure focus on the artist at hand. My part was the filming and arranging the set ready for the band to perform instantly, showing the role of leadership and directing the band in order to grasp them within the shot, and the shot we need to portray our story line.
