Behind The Scenes- Paint Throwing & Studio Filming

Our next chapter involved our studio performance and the powder paint throwing segment. These aspects will feature throughout the whole contents of the music video, therefore an important and vital footage to feature through the video. Through both scenes a tripod was included, ensuring that the proportion and levels were correct to both group and single shots. keeping an even distribution throughout, creating a well-balanced shot. Rule of thirds became a law to the video that we applied, keeping the ears, eyes and mouth in line, a common technique in the media trade in order to produce an even balance throughout the contents. We incorporated various shots including close-up imagery, focusing specifically on each artist, giving them each their own persona through the band, coming as one but also known in a individual manner also. Through the notion of the powder paint we decided that each artist should have through own colour, to represent their favourite colour and create a signature effect that relates to each member, like Sia who wears a wig covering her eyes. Later in the video patterns drawn on the face were included, the use of  colour were applied to each member, keeping continuity symbolised throughout, like a trademark for each member, something referred to within Goodwin's Theory.

Within the studio filming the we used black and white backdrops through the various filming sessions involved within the process of creating the music video. Contrasting clothing colours created a classic effect and reflected between the black of the clothing and white of the backdrop, plus vise-versa. Even though the colours through the bands clothing were the same the style of clothing was different, producing individual personalities for each persona through the band. Furthermore, a theme of using a tripod remained to create similar and our best to replicate the same positions as in the studio filming. however, wider and longer shots were required to capture the whole surrounding area and the focus of the paint rather than the band members, but instead their friendship. Again, they are colour coordinated, with white polo shirts and black leggings, keeping the classic approach. The white however grasps the colours, really standing out and catching the vibrant contents of the paint.

The part that I played throughout was the organisation of the settings and the majority of the filming, taking on a lead role to capture the main contents of the film. I found that this responsibility was a lot of pressure, but I felt that I handled it well, grasping very good quality shots that capture the essence and idea of each segment in a well-rounded manner. The tripod assisted steadiness, and with the rule of thirds, helping me to enhance the quality further. Overall, each filming session was a success, and planning was a key factor, making filming more simpler as we knew exactly what we wanted and what the target audience wanted.
